When you are travelling, there’s always that fear that your smartphone or mobile devices will run out of battery power. There are photos to take, directions to get, weather to check, and e-mails to read. So, to provide you with the ultimate satisfaction, ZAG now has new innovative human powered bike area to charge your phone if you need a boost.
These exercise bikes are new fun place where you can do your daily workout, and at the same time, charge your gadget with kinetic energy you produce. Your peddling will get you the same amount of charge as if you plugged your smartphone into an electrical outlet (but peddling faster won’t help. It’s the time it’s plugged in that matters).
Eco charging bikes have been constructed by WeWatt. The seats are very comfortable and have the cool “banana” shape. According to their website, 10 minutes of biking can give recharge about 15% of your battery. Peddling for only about half an hour and your phone or tablet will be charged and at your service again. The company uses recycled materials, and the phone charging kiosks are constructed by disabled people. They have even developed an App to enable users to monitor information such as energy produced (HumanWh), calories burned (kcal), distance biked (km) and battery status (% of total capacity).

Planting trees at Zagreb Airport
Following its commitment to sustainable development, which involves activities aimed at reducing carbon emissions, Zagreb Airport continues the good practice of such activities, such as tree planting in its surroundings. Several years ago, a project was implemented to plant more than 130 trees near primary schools in the city of Velika Gorica, and at the beginning of 2024, Zagreb International Airport initiated a tree planting project within the airport premises.
The project's idea is for each employee to personally plant one tree under the motto – 'Root, grow, and develop together with the company!', and the implementation of the tree planting project has been entrusted to the company Hrvatske šume d.o.o., which is also a partner in the project. All employees of Zagreb International Airport are involved in the planting action and together with members of the Airport Management planted 240 trees in the airport surrounding.
